LG KU990 Viewty

LG is keen to point out that the Viewty is ‘the complete camera phone’. And to be fair, it’s hard to argue with that. Packing a massive 5-megapixels to rival the N95 and Samsung G600 and a stack of features you’re more likely to find on your common or garden point and shoot, it’s more like a phone camera than a camera phone. LG said that the LG KU990 Viewty will be available on all major networks. Pricing is yet to be confirmed but it’s likely to be free on a monthly contract of around £30 to £40 per month.

The LG Viewty KU990 might sound like it’s a digital photo frame but it’s actually LG’s latest camera phone that features an impressive 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and xenon flash. Not only can this handset brag about its camera, but it should also be very proud of its lovely large touchscreen, which lets you view images easily. On top of this, it has the ability to upload videos directly to YouTube and to shoot video at 120 frames per second, which allows you to slow it down and watch it in slow-motion, as seen in the clip below. This feature’s ideal for shooting fast-moving sports footage.

The LG KU990 Viewty is an impressive phone, particularly when you consider that LG hasn’t made that many high-end camera phones. It’s doesn’t beat the Canon Digital IXUS 70 but it is comparable with a three-year old average standalone camera.

If you want to take relatively high-quality photos and videos then the KU990 is definitely worth checking out. Alongside the good camera, easy-to-use touchscreen interface and HSDPA (3.5G), we think LG has made one of its best phones yet.

This year, in January 2007 to be precise, LG introduced the LG KE970 Shine. The slogan LG has brought into this world together with the LG Shine is: “Born to shine” which it certainly does! The LG KE970 is a beautiful & highly capable mobile phone which is better known as the LG Shine. The beautiful KE970 Shine is the second Black Label Series mobile handset to be deigned by LG. The highly attractive mobile phone has been given the name LG Shine due to its stunning appearance & mirror effect casing.

The LG Shine is from the same family as the popular LG KG800 Chocolate which is also a slide opening mobile phone which comes with a high quality finish & imaging focused features. The LG shine has also been developed for the Korean mobile phone market where it is known as the LG SV420 Shine. The LG SV420 is identical in design to the European LG KE970 Shine.

The LG KE970 comes with a built in Internet browser which the user can access from the phones main menu. The user can access the WAP Internet browser & enjoy a mobile Internet experience on the their mobile phone. The LG KE970 Shine comes with Bluetooth® Technology which allows the user to enjoy a wireless connection between their LG KE970 Shine & any Bluetooth® compatible device including a wireless headset.

The monitor is excellent, although rather difficult to use in bright sunlight, which I more or less expected when I saw this phone for the first time. All in all LG have put a remarkable high quality telephone in the market, with solid exterior and a trendy appearance. The LG Shine is easy to operate which will be to the benefit of the novices among us who are just starting to use a mobile phone. In short the LG Shine is a real must!

LG KE800 Chocolate Platinum

LG’s Chocolate range of handsets has achieved great success in both Asian markets and through its introduction to the US with Verizon Wireless. LG recently announced a major update to their famous Chocolate phone lineup featuring a serious face-lift and a heavy improvement of the available equipment. The new LG KE800 also takes care of some the drawbacks the original LG Chocolate in terms of functionality.

The new LG KE800 Chocolate has a very similar design to its predecessor, though now features a gold or silver band just below the screen, adding the feeling of a somewhat premium handset. More than just advanced specifications allow it leave the predecessor behind. The phone is equipped with a 2MP camera, FM-tuner, expansion connector for microSD, and 128 MB of internal memory.

The LG Chocolate Platinum is expected to follow up the success of its predecessor, which has almost 3 millions sold worldwide. In Europe LG would offer KE800 Platinum only in black and silver color combination, while in Korea the CDMA version of the KE800 would be offered in black with gold trimming.

LG Prada

LG on Thursday morning introduced its eagerly anticipated Prada phone. Also known as the KE850, the handset was designed in tandem with the Italian fashion designer and is said not only to bring the design to the exterior but also the Flash-based interface, which is consciously drawn in high contrast black and white and selectively fades out icons when not in use. The Prada model is the first to ship with a completely touchscreen-based control system, LG says: aside from basic call buttons, every menu is controlled through the touchscreen.

While the LG device bears striking similarities to Apple’s iPhone, the Korean cellphone maker takes a different approach by downplaying built-in storage and size: media is stored primarly on microSD cards, while the 3-inch, 400×240 screen reduces the overall size compared to the Apple model. Nevertheless, media support is broad with the option of playing videos in MPEG-4, H.263, and H.264 formats as well as music in AAC, MP3, WMA, and even RealAudio standards. A 2-megapixel camera is built in for capturing both photos and video clips.

Crucially, LG’s Prada phone is due to launch as soon as late February in France, Germany, Italy, and the UK, outpacing the iPhone by several months. Chinese and Singapore launches are expected in March, while LG’s home country of Korea will receive the phone by the second quarter of this year. A North American launch is currently unlikely as the tri-band GSM phone lacks the essential fourth frequency for the continent’s cell networks.

Then again, if the recent naysayers are right about Apple’s missing functionality turning off premium customers, then Prada may do well to restrict itself to the European market, where the brand’s ambiance is arguably stronger anyway. LG plans to introduce the phone in Europe for 600 Euro (about USD$777).
