Camera is an important feature that should be there in any latest phone. This feature allows you to capture some of the best moments that you would like to keep in your personal collection. Moreover a mobile camera is easier to use than the regular ones.

At the same time they are handy to carry wherever you go which is not the same with the regular big cameras. This is the reason the Sony Ericsson C702 phones are equipped with a 3.15 mega pixel camera which is considered to be an efficient ones when it comes to the quality of the snaps that you take.

The cyber shot technology implemented in this mobile phone makes it a good choice for the photographers. This camera is coupled with the auto focus and zoom facility which makes your photographs just the perfect ones. The internal flash is used to take the snaps when there is insufficient light around.

Video recording is equally easy with this phone. The most interesting part is that you get your own blogging site with the phone. So you are free to upload the video clips and photographs on it directly from the phone.

There are other two technologies which make this phone absolutely different from the others available in the stores. Now the geographical factor is added to the photographs you click which means that this phone comes with the geo tagging facility.

Whenever you click a photograph the location and time gets included in it and you are free to send these photographs to your friends as picture messages. Face detection is another novel feature. If there is a face within the frame of the screen the Sony Ericsson C702 will automatically focus on it and you get the perfect clarity that you were looking for. Thanks to our friends at mobile phone blog, for this review.

The brand will announce three new handsets and a range of Bluetooth accessories. As reported yesterday, there will be two new Walkman phones and one phone in the emotional design category. Check out the details.

W890i: A 3G Walkman phone with accelerometer, it is an upgrade of the W880i. This will have Play Now 4.0 as well as a new version of the Walkman player. There will be a 3.2 megapixel camera onboard.

W380i: An upgrade of the W300i, it will have a new feature called gesture control. I’m not very sure of what it will do, but it will control the Walkman player by some gestures. It is not a 3G phone.

K660i: The USP of this 3G phone will be its web browsing capabilities. It will allow users to browse the web in the landscape mode and will come with a pointer cursor. To me, it smells like Opera!

The new Sony Ericsson W960, recently announced , is the new top of the line Walkman phone. Headline features include 8GB of flash memory (700 albums, 8000 songs), UMTS (3G) and WiFi connectivity and an autofocus 3.2 megapixel camera. The W960’s software platform is UIQ 3.0 on Symbian OS 9.1. The W960 weighs in at 119g with dimensions of 109×55x16 mm and has a monoblock form factor.”You couldn’t ask for a better music mix of high performance media player and intuitive phone. The touchscreen is complemented by a regular keyboard and the phone itself is amplified by the Media Manager programme and the many music accessories. The days of taking an MP3 player, a camera and a phone with you when you leave the house are definitely over,” Nicklas Sivander, Product Manager for the W960 Walkman phone said.

Music isn’t the only trick up the W960’s sleeve though, as built in WiFi connectivity allows for high speed web browsing and email. Out of range of a wireless hotspot? The W960 also includes UMTS 2100MHz 3G connectivity and tri-band GSM/GPRS. Imaging is also easily handled with the 3.2MP auto focus camera, and since the W960 is a UIQ smartphone, all you PIM data is available as well. What is even more surprising is that all these features are housed in a phone only 16mm think and weighing just 119g.

The Sony Ericsson W960 Walkman phone will be available in select markets from Q4 2007.

Notable features include:

Tri-band GSM (900, 1800, 1900) and UMTS 2100.

2.6 inch TFT touchscreen with 282,144 colours and 240 x 320 (QVGA) resolution.

128MB RAM (double that of W950’s 64MB, but effectively quadruple amount of available RAM after boot 20MB vs 80 MB).

Hardware accelerated 3D graphics and support for Open GL ES graphics (the W960 uses the same chipset as the P1i).

Enhanced UI including extra shortcuts on the idle screen (up to 15 from 5) including a more applications shortcut.

The ability to navigate through media stored on the phone using a stylus or your finger on the touch screen.

The ability to transfer music from a PC at the rate 1Gb every 3 minutes thanks to USB 2.0 PC connectivity.

Video playback at 30 frame per second full screen is al supported.

FM Radio with RDS

Media Manager PRO, a PC program for organising media and optimising music, video and photos for use on the W960. Media Manger will replace the existing Disc2Phone software.

Support for TrackID music recognition software allowing you to record a clip of a song and instantly find out the track title, artist and the album. Furthermore TrackID has been enhanced on the W950 to provide more detailed information about the song being identified and there now support for extra searching options (e.g. a text search just giving the bands name).

A stereo Bluetooth headset (HBH-DS220) will be included in the retail box in addition to the usual wired headset.

A redesigned look compared to the W950 with rounder edges and more defined keypad keys. The back key has moved from the side of the device to the keypad.

The usual range of UIQ and Sony Ericsson applications including the usual Document Viewers, Blogger, Opera Web Browser and Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync email support.

The W580i is a slim slider phone with a neat trick; it has a built-in pedometer along with some neat programs to make use of it. The shape is cool and the curve on the bottom is interesting and smart at the same time. However I’m not that crazy when you open it up. There are these lights on the side plus you get these shiny things on the keypad that kind of remind me of a rapper’s teeth.

The W580i is a young people’s (or at least, active people’s) phone. Except the colorful, updated Walkman software, there are 3 applications to be found that have to do with physical exercise. In the front screen, you will find a pedometer and there is also a calories/weight counter.

The W580i comes with 12 Mbytes of built in memory & with a memory slot which allows the user to add a Micro™ M2™ memory card for further storage. The handset weighs 94 grams in total & is 14 mm in depth, 99 mm in height & 47 mm in width. The Sony Ericsson W580i comes complete with a stereo headset so the user will be ready to enjoy their music & comes with everything the user needs to get their music from their PC or laptop onto their phone.

Pros:
* A2DP, PAN, Bluetooth 2.0
* QVGA screen
* Great usability and upgraded, stable software
* Quad-band GSM and EDGE

Cons:
* Bad camera quality, no flashlight or autofocus
* Video records only to 3GP QCIF
* Difficult to remove battery door
* Untrusty numeric keypad

Sony Ericsson’s new Walkman phone was definitely not the one noshing all the mince pies this Christmas…

The big wigs over at Sony Ericsson have flashed us these taster snaps of their latest Walkman phone, but we’ll have to wait a bit longer for retail details on the bony blower.

The W880i music maestro is expected to hit the high street within the first half of this year. Keep it here for bang up-to-date news on Sony’s Ericsson’s newbie.

Sony Ericsson has finally decided to present the Sony Ericsson W880i, a slim walkman phone, measuring only 9.4 mm. Despite Sony Ericsson’s announcing this phone, there’s little information available and the photos aren’t very revealing either, the only thing that one can confirm being the camera for video calling, therefore 3G capabilities.

In fact, the previously leaked photos of this phone have been far more revealing. But since there is no significant difference between the phone in these official photos and the phone in the photos presented before, we can only hope that the features will prove to be the same as well.

The brushed metal casing will also be included, which might mean that the phone is also durable. Looking on the bright side of things, this is the first time that Sony Ericsson has provided any information at all about this phone. According to Sony Ericsson, more information regarding the W880i – so far also known as the Ai – will be available after the phone’s launch, which is to occur during the first half of 2007. Which basically means that the only official information released so far regarding this phone is that it will come with all of the music-center features Sony Ericsson Walkman phones usually bring.

Other than that, we can only presume that the phone will include at least a 2 megapixel camera and, since it is a Walkman phone, it will surely come equipped with a memory card slot that will allow extra MP3 storage.
