As expected, Verizon has welcomed the Samsung SCH-U700 Gleam into its lineup, a blindingly shiny flip with a solid spec sheet to back up the glitz. Samsung SCH-U700 is the only 3G cell phone that Samsung showed off in the Barcelona 3GSM show. With measurement of 12.1 mm width, Samsung claims that the U700 cell phone is the world’s slimmest 3G phone that supports HSDPA network. Verizon Wireless is getting close to the launch of the Samsung Gleam SCH-U700 in early October.

The U700 will feature a 2MP Camera, QVGA Internal Display, External Music Controls, MicroSD card slot, and new Themes. After the U700, the U900 (replacement of the A990) is expected to be released by the end of December, which will have a 3MP Autofocus Camera.

The Gleam’s outside is a glossy metallic bronze and black and houses a sleek silver keypad. The new living wallpaper capability allows Verizon Wireless customers to easily see the phone’s status with either a city or country view that changes with the time of day.

Besides that, the features that set the new Samsung U700 cell phone apart from Samsung U100, U300 and U600 are the additional 3.0-MP camera for video conferencing and FULL browser support for better internet browsing experience.

The Gleam will be available for $149.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement online at verizonwireless.com and in more than 2,300 Verizon Wireless Communications Stores.
